Presentation | Precision Micro-Optics and Advanced Materials Driving Continuous Innovation in the CPO Ecosystem

Date Posted:2026-07-06

On July 10, 2026, Joy Wang, Senior Sales Consultant for Optical Communications at Focuslight, will attend the “2026 Conference of Innovation and Development for Optoelectronics and Information Industry” in Chengdu, China, and deliver a presentation titled “Precision Micro-Optics and Advanced Materials Driving Continuous Innovation in the CPO Ecosystem.” The conference is jointly organized by Infostone and ePhoton, both famous professional media for photonics in Chinese market. The language for the presentation will be Chinese.

Abstract

Driven by the rapid growth of artificial intelligence (AI), large model training, and data center computing, optical interconnect technologies are evolving toward higher bandwidth, lower power consumption, and greater integration. Alongside the rapid adoption of 800G and 1.6T optical modules, co-packaged optics (CPO) is emerging as a key technology for overcoming the bandwidth density and power consumption limitations of conventional architectures. This evolution places increasingly demanding requirements on precision micro-optics, advanced substrate materials, and advanced packaging technologies, making optical, electrical, and thermal co-design an essential direction for next-generation optical communication systems.

In this presentation, Joy will discuss the development trends of co-packaged optics (CPO) and examine the key challenges associated with the transition from pluggable optical modules to CPO architectures, including optical coupling, packaging, and thermal management. She will also highlight the application of core technologies, such as microlens arrays, fiber coupling components, and advanced substrate materials, in enabling high-speed optical interconnects with higher bandwidth, lower power consumption, and improved system reliability. In addition, the presentation will explore how collaboration across the industry value chain is driving the continuous evolution of the CPO ecosystem to meet the growing demands of AI data centers.

Building on Focuslight’s core technology platforms in light sources, precision micro-optics, and advanced substrate materials, together with comprehensive capabilities in optical design, simulation, high-volume manufacturing, testing and characterization, the company provides key enabling technologies for high-speed optical interconnects and data center applications. Focuslight is committed to working closely with ecosystem partners to drive continuous innovation across the CPO landscape.
