On Thursday, Dec 5 2024, at 13:30 (China Standard Time) , Dr. Olga Fryckova, Automotive Product Line Manager at Focuslight, delivering an presentation at DVN Shanghai Workshop 2024 on the topic of “Full MLA headlight with ADB”.
Summary
Headlamps with dynamic high beam, also termed Adaptive Driving Beam (ADB) are becoming a must have due to their superior road illumination and therefore safety and comfort they offer to drivers.
Microlens-arrays (MLAs) offer interesting styling options with their slim shape and can result in headlamps with a cleaned up look and exciting options to hide functionalities. Already, several car models are equipped with MLA-based headlamps. While some dynamics in the low beam is integrated, none of the existing MLA headlamp designs feature a full ADB solution based on MLAs.
We are presenting our approach to realise ADB functionality with MLAs, following our design principles that we have established with our Miraluz® headlamp MLA series:
- Multiple, relatively small MLA elements
- Short optical path
- Compact layout of light engine
- Modular approach enabling flexible arrangements
- Styling options for our customers
Tight integration of light sources with optics will bring the ultimate solution to challenging lighting tasks such as automotive lighting. Focuslight’s commitment to micro-optics is demonstrated by the recent integration of ams Osram’s passive optical component business and the revival of the Heptagon brand.
